On September 22, 2016, the official Sod Turning Ceremony was held for Aspen Green. Speakers included Rev. Dr. Laura Bentall Nelson (President, Canadian Baptists of Western Canada), Rev. Rob Ogilvie (Executive Secretary, Convention of Baptist Churches BC), Duane Siegrist (Architect AIBC, Integra Architecture Inc), Councillor Kerry Jang (City of Vancouver), MLA Shane Simpson (MLA Vancouver Hastings, British Columbia), A. Dar Santos (CEO, BG Aspen Green Society) and Rev. Jeremy Bell (Executive Minister, Canadian Baptists of Western Canada).
